NEWS: New All-Terrain Wheelchair For Free Hire In Hobart
by Stephanie Williams

There is a new all-terrain wheelchair available for free hire to explore the Queens Domain’s tracks and trails. Disability advocate David Cawthorn said the TrailRider helps break down barriers to outdoor recreation for people with limited mobility. “Getting out into nature improves physical health, mental wellbeing and social connections, and this initiative ensures more members of the community can share in those benefits,” he said. “The gentle tracks and beautiful views found on the Queens Domain make for a perfect bush outing in the TrailRider.” Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds added, “The TrailRider is easy to use with a sturdy frame and a battery-operated motor for extra assistance along uneven terrain. With the help of two companions, users can comfortably explore bush tracks, enjoy fresh air, and connect with nature,” she said. “The Queens Domain offers a selection of relatively gentle and accessible routes, giving more people the opportunity to experience Hobart’s natural environment and spectacular views.” The power-assisted TrailRider is now available to book for free from the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre.
